Certification Path
Certification Path
The route to the BCGC credential
The Certification Path is the one route to the Board Certified in Grief Care (BCGC) credential, whatever your title. You bring grief-specific education from any provider. INBGC reviews it, verifies your practice hours, and examines you against the published standard. The certification fee is $1,295 and includes your first year of certification.
Education
Grief-specific education from any provider, reviewed against the six topic areas. INBGC does not provide foundational grief support training.
Verified practice hours
A minimum of 50 verified practice hours of non-clinical grief support provided to grieving people, supported by a signed attestation and one supporting record. Clinical treatment hours do not count.
Board Examination
A proctored examination across six equally weighted topic areas. The passing standard is 80 percent.

Candidates who pass are awarded the BCGC credential, and the first year of certification is included.
